Welcome! I'm Soquel Ross, the owner and instructor here at Nimble Notes. I'm glad you popped in here to get to know me a little!
I had a unique childhood. (Skip This) Outside every minute possible: in the dirt, climbing trees and observing animals. Hours of imaginative games by myself and with my brother. Lot's of good books. LOTS of Music.
With a grandma and father who were both music educators, music was an integral part of life as far back as I can remember. Folk & classical music created a backdrop to my daily life. (Put this 1st paragraph and integrate the 2 together) There was a song for everything. Bath time, play time Meal time, bed time. Sad songs, happy songs, celebration songs, worship songs... Playing with music was a favorite activity of mine. I was thrilled when I received my 1st violin on my 4th birthday and began Suzuki lessons.
Nature, literature, imagination and music wove the tapestry which created the love of learning and a wonder of exploring the world that I still have today. (Maybe put this someplace else) Music became the avenue through which I explored the world around me. My violin became more and more a part of who I was and traveled everywhere I went. (This was skimmed over)
As the years passed I went from teaching my toys and pet chickens music to volunteering in my sibling's music classes. Having siblings who also played instruments found us performing and gigging together. In my late teens I transitioned from music teacher workshops with Dad & Grandma to beginning a few violin students of my own. Those experiences cast the dream for a music studio of my own... I wanted other people of all ages to experience the same JOY in making music that I did.
Fast forward to today. Nimble Notes has been spreading JOY and a Love of Learning since 2018. I am a certified Suzuki Violin & Musikgarten teacher and am currently pursuing certification in the Dalcroze method. Teaching is the way I bring the rich and unique experiences of my childhood to YOUR family. Any class you come to will have elements of the nature, folk stories, movement, dance, and imagination that framed my own childhood.
When not teaching you may find me playing a gig with my family, exploring folk music and dance, hiking, caring for my garden and pet chickens, spending time with my siblings or a friend, or reading a good book. (This isn't exactly important)
Looking forward to meeting YOU as you come begin your journey of JoyFULL music and learning at Nimble Notes!
